Privacy Policy
Effective October 3, 2026
This policy describes how Chores Weekly (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the website, progressive web app, and related API.
Who we are
Chores Weekly is a household chore planning and task management application available on web and mobile. Reach us at contact@choresweekly.com.
Information we collect
We collect the following, depending on how you use the app:
- Account. Sign-in uses Google or Sign in with Apple through Supabase Auth. We receive your account identifier, email address, and display name (and a profile photo URL if provided by Google). We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
- Household data. You and other members of a household may save household names, people (display names and optional linked emails), custom avatars, chores, schedules, completions, “won’t do” marks, notes, difficulty points, chore preferences, rewards, redemptions, an activity log of household events, and which household you open by default.
- Morning email reminders (optional). If you turn on 8am email reminders, we store your sign-in email, timezone, and when we last sent a reminder so we can email you a list of your open chores for the day.
- Developer API keys (optional). If you generate a key on the Developers page, we store a name, a short prefix, a one-way hash of the key, and when it was last used. We do not keep the full key after you close the dialog that shows it.
- Device storage & analytics. The app stores a session in your browser or device storage (typically
localStorage) so you stay signed in. We use first-party product analytics (via PostHog) to measure aggregate page views, platform performance, and feature adoption to improve the service. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising cookies or sell your data. - Technical logs. Hosts may record IP address, user agent, and request metadata in server logs for security and reliability.
We do not collect payment card details. There are no in-app purchases or third-party advertising SDKs.
How we use it
- Create and sign you into your account
- Run the household planner, points, rewards, and live updates
- Link you to a household person if your email was invited
- Send morning email reminders you opted into
- Authenticate requests you make with a developer API key you created
- Understand aggregate usage patterns and diagnose application performance
- Keep the service secure, prevent unauthorized access, and debug technical issues
We do not sell your personal information or share it for ads.
Who processes data for us
We use other companies to run the product. They process data on our instructions:
- Google & Apple: account authentication
- Supabase: authentication, database, and realtime updates
- PostHog: product usage analytics and telemetry
- Vercel: website and API hosting, including a scheduled job that sends opted-in reminders
- Amazon Web Services: sending opted-in morning reminder emails through Amazon SES
Household members you add can see that household’s chores, schedule, people, logs, and rewards. People with a linked email who sign in join the household.
Retention and deletion
We keep household data while the household exists. The household owner can delete the household from Household Settings or People, which archives that household’s chores, people, assignments, rewards, and related records for eventual permanent deletion. You can turn off morning email reminders from the account menu to delete that subscription. Revoking an API key from Developers deletes that key’s hash. You can also revoke Chores Weekly’s access from your Google account.
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app from Profile Settings under the Danger Zone section. Deleting your account deactivates your credentials immediately, removes all owned households, unlinks your memberships, revokes notification subscriptions, and permanently erases your personal data.
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, you can request deletion on our Account & Data Deletion page or by emailing contact@choresweekly.com.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can delete your account directly in the app or request deletion on our Account & Data Deletion page. You can also email contact@choresweekly.com and we will handle the request for this app. If you are in the EEA or UK, we process this information to provide the service you asked for and, where needed, for security.
Children
Google sign-in is for the person who creates or joins a household, not for children under 13. A household may add first names of family members (including children) as people on the roster. Do not add a child’s email address or other contact details. We do not knowingly create login accounts for children under 13.
Security
Access to household data is limited by signed-in accounts and database rules. Developer API keys are hashed before storage; anyone with a valid key can act as you for the tasks API, so keep keys private. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the effective date on this page. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated policy.
